About

Hi – I’m Sabrina and I live in Kelowna, BC with my husband, 2 teens and our pets.

Today’s youth are facing more than ever before. I started this work because I believe all youth deserve a space to pause, connect, and be truly heard — without pressure, without performance, just presence.

I remember experiencing my first women’s circle and noticing a woman that looked so beautiful and perfect that I thought, “what could she possibly have to worry about?” As everyone started sharing, I learned that she was working through insecurities, loneliness and self doubt, just like most of us.

I started to attend more circles and eventually retreats, each time feeling more at home. Circles felt like a special container or safe haven to gather and shed roles and expectations. I was finally able to express and embrace my true self while being held in a safe and judgement free space.

Then I thought to myself “Why do we have to wait until we are grown up to discover and connect in this way?”

I later went on to further self development and within that work, I established my values, gained healthy habits and even found my purpose!

Same thing crossed my mind again, I knew I wanted to bring this to youth to help them learn about themselves, discover new ideas, set goals, and think about their personal values. I feel that these all help to establish their personal compass so that they can align their actions and lead a more fulfilling life.

After lots of soul searching and reflection, I came to the conclusion that my life purpose or “big why” is to work with youth. A lot of my experiences as a youth came up. I recalled being a teen and consistently struggling to find my people and identity among so many other things.

For almost a decade, I trained and volunteered as a local Leader with Girl Guides of Canada. I also became a Certified Community Coach through the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) volunteering each winter to coach youth in Cross Country Skiing at Telemark Nordic.

I soon realized that I wanted to take this further and make a larger impact. After countless late nights and days of dreaming, I finally took the plunge and decided to create Solara Youth.

I’ve become a Girls Circle® Certified Facilitator with One Circle Foundation and am so grateful to be able to bring this in person experience to our community in Kelowna and potentially host online circle gatherings as well.

I have lots of ideas for expanding my offerings for youth and am excited to be on this journey.

What is a Girls Circle®

Every week, a small group of girls and youth who identify with female development gather with a trained facilitator for one to two hours. Following a gentle six-step format, girls take turns speaking and truly listening to one another — about friendships, body image, boundaries, confidence, and everything in between.

Through conversation, journaling, movement, drama, and creative activities, each session gives girls the tools to understand themselves and connect with others in a safe, predictable space.

It’s not therapy. It’s not a class. It’s a circle — and it might be exactly what she needs.
